Running has always been a big part of Sylvia’s life. Growing up she competed in cross country and over the years transitioned to competing in trail ultramarathons. Her interest in sports nutrition began when she was looking for ways to support her training and racing. The impact was so significant it inspired a career change. From her first-hand experience she understands the importance of providing an individualised approach to improve nutrition, health and performance. Sylvia works with a range of athletes, from the weekend warrior to the elite athlete. She currently consults to the Queensland Bulls, Queensland Fire, and Brisbane Heat BBL and WBBL cricket teams.

Two things I can’t live without are:
A good pair of Hokas and Naked Sundays SPF 50+ sunscreen

9am on a Sunday morning, and I am:
Probably still running on a trail somewhere

My favourite training session is:
Hill reps! Am quite partial to a 10 x 3 min hill sesh

Tea or coffee:
A strong cup of coffee in the morning followed by lots of half-drunk cups of tea

My last meal would be:
Tippo 00’s tagliolini al nero

One thing I wish everyone in the world could know about nutrition is:
Food isn’t simply good or bad. Understanding the context in which it’s being used is so important. A suitable option for one individual will be different to someone else’s. Every human body is unique.

My nutrition philosophy:
What you eat on a day-to-day basis should mostly be made up from whole healthful foods; food the way nature intended. Sprinkle in some fun food on occasion and enjoy. Aim for consistency over perfection!
